Over the past few weeks, we’ve shared on the blog and on Facebook about Sang-Min Lee, a young Mennonite from South Korea who has refused to fulfill his mandatory military service, as a matter of faith and conscience.
On April 30th, Sang-Min was convicted and sentenced to an 18-month prison term. Many people around the world have been praying for Sang-Min, while others have sent letters of encouragement in the weeks surrounding his trial and sentencing. His home congregation, the Grace and Peace Mennonite Church in Seoul, has been especially supportive and is committed to accompanying him through these next 18 months.
But those of us outside of Seoul can still be of support to Sang-Min! As the memory of the trial fades, Sang-Min will continue to face significant prison time. We’d like him to feel the solidarity and care of those who share his convictions and beliefs as strongly in month thirteen as he has during his trial.
